Student Profile - Lucy Macintosh

Lucy has always been an animal lover and enjoyed caring for her four hamsters and bassett hound whilst studying at Weatherhead High School. During this time, Lucy knew she wanted a career involving animals but didn’t know the next steps to take. Her grandmother suggested she visit Church Farm’s open evening after seeing an advert in the local paper.

Lucy started at Church Farm in September 2009 and particularly enjoyed the practical aspects of the course. She was proud to be the first student in her group to hand-feed the goats. Lucy, 17, says "The course at Church Farm helped me to build my confidence; it was a brilliant stepping stone to the Level 3 course at Reaseheath."

Having successfully completed the Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care at Church Farm, Lucy has progressed onto the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Animal Management at Reaseheath. Lucy hopes to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma to further her aim to become a veterinary nurse or dog groomer.
